Too Much Grounding?

Everyone, especially in the spiritual community, tell people to ground. It literally was the only advice that my daughter received repeatedly. It really didn’t help much for her unique situation, but it did give us the incentive to both learn how to ground. Grounding of course has value, and it became part of our personal energy practices.
I never heard about any side effects from grounding or reasons why you should be cautious with grounding. However, I want to share a personal story about grounding, too much grounding!

As you may know, I had a major fall in 2015 that decommissioned me from working any longer as a bedside nurse. There really wasn’t any explanation for the fall. I was walking through a parking lot and my feet felt like they got twisted.
As one would expect, I started paying more attention to my feet and the ground that I was transversing. I could not afford to have another major injury to my compromised neck (plate) from a fall. Despite my awareness, in recent years I have fallen a few more times. Each time it felt like something was twisting up my feet.
One of the last times, Leila suggested I go inward and look at the energy around my feet and legs. I did this and noted that it looked like a chaotic rope of energy twisting around my legs from my feet up to my mid-thigh. This was not right …..And it explained that feeling that my feet were getting twisted up!
This is not how the energy should be flowing in and around one’s legs and feet. I consciously worked on the energy flow and in the process ensured that I was grounded.
I started a fitness program lifting weights at the gym with Leila.
By this time, I realized that I never let both feet get off the ground at the same time (jump). I always made sure one foot was firmly on the ground.
As I started moving around more and working with weights, I made sure that I was grounded consistently. I did not want to fall at the gym. I made sure my foundation was strong, and I ground my energy into the core of the earth.
Several months into our workout, I started having problems with my legs. They ached something awful. I could not stand for long periods of time. Going up and downstairs become torturous. I quickly had to let go of my workouts. Neither my doctor, nor I could get a handle on what was happening with my legs. I knew it had to be energetic because the symptoms would come and go.
Months later, I went to a craft fair with my daughters. The fair took place in a parking lot. This event involved standing on the pavement for several hours. My feet started burning and got very cold. Shortly thereafter, my legs were aching so bad that I had to go sit in the car. I had difficulty getting into the car, but as soon as I had my legs and feet in, there was change in the sensation. After about fifteen minutes, the pain and achiness were gone.
As I sat in the car, I realized that the pain in my legs was originating in my feet. It literally felt like something in the earth was sucking all the energy out of my feet and it continued until it removed the energy from my legs. It had gotten as far as my hips when I chose to sit in the car. After I had feeling (energy) back in my feet and legs, I energetically put a shield up on the bottom of my feet to filter whatever I was getting from the pavement/ground.
At first, I thought there was something coming up from the earth that just didn’t agree with me. But as I reflected over the next few days and shared with Leila, we reached the conclusion that I had so effectively grounded myself to the earth that I could not move.
I had brought myself to a literal standstill with my grounding.
The lesson: You can ground too much!
I am still working at reversing what I caused by my super-efficient grounding to earth energy directly. As with all energy work, it evolves as we evolve.
